Perez Signing

The White Sox have signed reserve infielder Eduardo Perez. Perez is expected to help the Sox solve left-handed pitching. He is a .265 career hitter against left-handed pitchers. Unfortunately they still do not seem to realize that their main problem against left-handed pitching was actually their own defense. Rob Mackowiak, the right-handed platoon in center field, was dreadful. Either way, Perez is a welcome addition. Hopefully, he will contribute to another world title.

Sox Ready to Kick Ass

It looks like the White Sox have regained that winning attitude. Just take a look at some of these recent quotes.

''I was real embarrassed! When the Cardinals won, I was like, 'We swept that team ... not only did we sweep them, we beat their ass.' That's when it really settled in.'' -Ozzie Guillen on last year's World Series

"We have a different way. We're going to play games -- give bunt situations, give pointers, the way they used to teach. We're going to make it fun, but they're not going to fuck around. I'll be in charge on that field because we have to do stuff better." -Ozzie Guillen on this year's approach to spring training

"Once you win like we did, nothing less is acceptable. That's why last year was disappointing, because we thought we had the team." -Don Cooper on getting the hunger back

Additionally, the Sox have announced that Jose Contreras will start on opening day instead of Mark Buehrle (Chicago Sun-Times). Contreras deserves this. He has shown veteran composure over the past two years, and he has been the best pitcher this side of Jon Garland. Perhaps Garland will get his shot when he is a little older.
